Job Description
You will build data processing and analysis systems on some of the largest fleet and leasing businesses in Europe - companies including Arval BNP Paribas Group and KINTO by Toyota. Critical operational and financial decision making on these fleets is made every day by our data platform processing 12M+ events a day across 500K+ managed assets in 14+ countries.
Our Engineering team owns the entire technical backend that powers this capability, running on top of Postgres, Trino, Parquet, Dagster, Superset, and more, and deployed anywhere from AWS to fully private clouds inside customers’ perimeters. Every day they collaborate to design new product features, and use help from AI coding harnesses to implement new product features, fix defects, refactor, re-engineer systems, and launch products.
As a Data Engineer on our team, you will be given ownership of one or more disparate data systems and work to coral them into structured and coherent data warehouses. In addition, depending on your skill set, the team will look up to you as a specialist for help with creating machine learning models to better analyze business data and for help resolving difficult database performance and systems architecture issues.
Why Ridecell
- Real ownership. You will own many data systems at the company.
- Real velocity. Ridecell powers enormous fleets but our company is a small team, you will never need to go through a 10-step approval process for anything. You can move fast based on your own understanding and the opportunities you see in front of you.
- Strategic accounts. You work on the data infrastructure powering category-defining European fleet and leasing customers, not generic mid-market deployments.
- Product influence. Depending on your skillset, the team will look up to you for leadership on data analysis problems.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or Data Engineer.
- Proficiency in Python as well as SQL.
- Experience with data cleaning, data normalization, and database modeling.
- Excited about working for a startup and moving quickly. Ridecell culture is fast and results-oriented.
- Self-directed, but you also work well with other engineers; a team player, eager to collaborate across functions.
- French and English. The working language of all documentation and large meetings at Ridecell is English.
- Must be willing to work on-site or hybrid (at least 2 days a week on-site) from our office in Paris and/or Bordeaux.
- Must be able to legally live and work in France without employer sponsorship.

- Data visualization and BI (e.g. Tableau, Superset, PowerBI)
- Experience in extracting insights from large and complex data, mathematical modelling, statistical intuition, experiment design, causal inference, and machine learning algorithms.
- Experience with data cleaning, data normalization, multi-system data integration, and database modeling.
- Financial modeling (e.g., interest, insurance, leasing, risk modeling, portfolio balancing, accounting).
- Software UX Design, Software Product Design.
- Experience with data quality and governance: Implementing validation checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security. Complying with data governance policies.
