Job Description
Mendral is The AI DevOps Engineer. Three always-on agents handle security, reliability, and performance, plus custom automations for anything else specific to your stack. From the team behind Docker and Dagger (YC W19).
We run in production at PostHog, Metabase, Luminai, Inngest, Clipboard Health, Blaxel, among others. Across millions of CI jobs, 73% of failures auto-match to known issues. PostHog accepted 104 fixes from Mendral in a single month.
The role
We're looking for an engineer-marketer hybrid to own how Mendral reaches every senior engineer in our market. You'll write the technical content. You'll run SEO and GEO. You'll show up on Hacker News, on conference stages, and on demo calls. You'll build the inbound engine that turns deep technical writing into pipeline.
This is a builder role, not a brand role. We measure success in qualified pipeline, organic traffic, conference talks accepted, and content that gets quoted by other engineers.
What you'll work on
- Technical blog posts that earn the front page of HN. Examples we've shipped: "We gave terabytes of CI logs to an LLM" (226 points), "What CI Actually Looks Like at a 100-Person Team," "Anatomy of a Production AI Agent."
- SEO and GEO strategy. Topic selection, topical authority, optimizing for both Google ranking and LLM citation.
- Lead gen funnels. Landing pages, lifecycle email, attribution, A/B tests on the things that actually move pipeline.
- Product demos. Live walkthroughs for prospects, recorded demos for the website, on-the-spot demos at conference booths.
- Conferences and meetups. Picking the right ones (DevOpsDays, KubeCon, AI engineering events), getting talks accepted, running booths when we have them.
- Social distribution. LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and the dev community channels where our audience actually reads.
- Customer storytelling. Working with engineering teams at PostHog, Metabase, and others to turn real usage into case studies.
What we're looking for
- Engineering background. You've written code in production. You can read a CI log, understand what a flaky test is, and write about it without translation help from us.
- Strong writer. We don't need a corporate copywriter. We need someone whose posts engineers actually finish and share in Slack.
- SEO and GEO fluency. You know how Google ranks, how LLMs cite, and how to build content that does both. You've moved organic traffic numbers before.
- Demand gen instincts. You've taken a piece of content and turned it into pipeline. You can name the metrics that matter and the ones that don't.
- Comfortable on camera and on stage. You can demo the product, run a webinar, and present a conference talk without three weeks of prep.
- High agency. You're the first marketing hire. Nobody is briefing you. You're the brief.

The content engine is already producing top HN posts and qualified inbound. Your job is to scale it. You'll be one of the first full-time hires, and the equity reflects that.
Based in the SF Bay Area is preferred, or remote in a compatible timezone.
