We’re looking for a highly motivated Security Engineer to join our growing team and help protect the platforms, systems, and services that power Kong’s products and internal operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work across cloud infrastructure, production systems, and engineering teams to build security into every layer of our business.

You’ll play a key role in identifying risks, strengthening our security posture, and helping ensure our customers can trust Kong to power their most critical workloads.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, implement, and improve security controls across Kong’s cloud infrastructure and internal systems

• Partner closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Platform teams to embed security best practices into development and deployment workflows

• Monitor, detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents across cloud and production environments

• Perform security assessments, vulnerability management, and risk analysis across infrastructure and applications

• Improve identity and access management, secrets management, and privileged access controls

• Support compliance initiatives and help maintain security standards across the business

• Build and improve automation for security monitoring, alerting, and remediation

• Help define and drive Kong’s long-term security strategy as we continue to scale globally

What You’ll Bring

• Strong experience in Security Engineering, Cloud Security, Infrastructure Security, or related areas

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS

• Strong understanding of Linux systems administration and security

• Experience securing production environments, distributed systems, and modern SaaS platforms

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, IAM, encryption, logging, and security monitoring

• Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with vulnerability management, incident response, and security tooling

• Strong scripting or programming skills (Python, Go, Bash, or similar preferred)

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across distributed teams
