About the Role
Blackbird is looking for exceptional full stack engineering interns for Summer 2026. You'll ship production code used by real restaurants and diners, not sandboxed projects that never see the light of day. You'll get hands-on experience across the stack and real exposure to how a fast-moving product team works.
If you already build things on your own and want to be held to a real bar, this is the role for you. Please note this role requires you to be in office in New York City and we are unable to cover relocation costs at this time.
What You'll Do
Build and iterate on features across our web and mobile surfaces
Help debug flows that span our terminal, mobile app, and backend services
Write code that runs in real restaurant environments with real consequences
Contribute to architecture conversations and learn how we make decisions
What We're Looking For
Coursework or project experience with React and TypeScript
Familiarity with async data patterns (REST, WebSockets, or similar)
Curiosity about how systems fail and how to build them to recover gracefully
Comfortable asking questions, moving fast, and owning your work in a small team
Nice to Haves
Any exposure to payments, fintech, or hospitality tech
Interest in how software works under hardware and network constraints
Pay Transparency Notice The compensation rate is $25 an hour USD. Disclosure in accordance with New York City's Pay Transparency Law.
Commitment to Equal Opportunity
