Senior Benefits Partner
Job Description
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Benefits is a core expression of how we support Ants and their families, now and over the arc of their lives. Our Benefits function has scaled to a global program covering thousands of employees across multiple regions in just over two years, and we are now adding additional depth to match that breadth.
We are hiring a senior individual contributor to anchor a major piece of our global program. The role is shaped to fit the strongest candidate's regional expertise. You will primarily own one of two scopes:
- Americas: US health and welfare strategy, leading our evaluation of a potential move to self-funding, owning our Canada program, and stewarding readiness to extend benefits across the Americas as our footprint grows.
- International: End-to-end international benefits ownership across EMEA and APAC, leading new entity launches and managing the full program lifecycle in regions where Anthropic has a growing presence.
Both versions of this role share the same level, the same reporting line, and the same core competencies. We will identify which scope fits best during the interview process based on where your hands-on experience and strongest interests lie.
This is a builder role. You will design programs where infrastructure does not yet exist, run broker selections, negotiate carrier terms, and stand up audit-ready operations across multiple jurisdictions.
You will report to the Head of Benefits and partner closely with our Senior Benefits Partner.
Key responsibilities
Regardless of regional anchor, you will:
- Own end-to-end benefits program management for your region, including design, vendor selection, broker management, implementation, renewals, and the day-to-day employee experience
- Manage carrier and vendor relationships, holding them accountable to contracted service standards
- Partner with Payroll, People Operations, Legal, and Finance to keep programs compliant, well-administered, and auditable
- Triage and resolve escalations across time zones, including carrier disputes and claims advocacy
- Draft clear, compliant employee-facing communications for enrollment, renewals, and policy changes
- Bring benchmarking and market intelligence to bear on program design, with a clear point of view on what Anthropic should do, not only what the market does
If you anchor in Americas, you will additionally:
- Own US health and welfare program strategy across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and ancillary lines
- Run the full annual US renewal cycle, including market strategy, carrier negotiations, and open enrollment execution
- Lead the evaluation and potential transition to self-funding, partnering with Finance on stop-loss structure, claims forecasting, and reserve modeling
- Own our Canada benefits program end-to-end, including renewals and provincial compliance
- Steward Anthropic's readiness to launch in additional Americas markets as our footprint grows
- Build finance-facing reporting: monthly claims analysis, PEPY and PEPM tracking, budget versus actual, and forward-looking projections in partnership with FP&A
- Own US compliance operations: ACA, ERISA, Section 125, non-discrimination testing, 5500 filings, and audit readiness
If you anchor in International, you will additionally:
- Lead end-to-end launches in new entity countries, from local-market scoping and broker selection through carrier negotiation, employee communications, and go-live
- Own the Benifex global platform rollout for assigned countries and ensure clean integration with Workday as the system of record
- Manage statutory and supplementary benefits across multiple EMEA and APAC markets, including pension, GLTD, GPA, and country-specific health and welfare programs
- Partner with the Head of Benefits to shape the international roadmap
Minimum qualifications
- Direct experience launching, redesigning, or financially stewarding a benefits program at scale
- Strong vendor and broker management skills, with a track record of holding carriers and brokers accountable to contracted terms
- Strong written communication and the ability to make nuanced tradeoffs legible to non-benefits stakeholders
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building infrastructure where none exists
Preferred qualifications
- 7+ years of benefits experience, with deep regional ownership in either US health and welfare (with bonus for Canada) or international markets across EMEA and APAC
- A track record of using AI tools to make benefits operations, employee self-service, or stakeholder communications materially better
- Strong instincts for benefits as a strategic lever within total compensation, not as an operational cost center
- Cross-regional exposure beyond your primary anchor (e.g., a US benefits leader who has also stood up programs in Canada or internationally, or an international benefits leader who has owned US health and welfare for a US-headquartered company)
- Direct experience supporting or leading a self-funding transition
- Fluency with Workday and global benefits administration platforms (Benifex, Darwin, or similar)
- A track record of building benefits programs that hold up under audit, controls review, and external scrutiny
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Logistics
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
